Honorary Ambassador J.L. Mignot posted a message

I met Kurt when I worked as minister plenipotentiary at the Belgian embassy in Beijing. He had been asked by the famous late photographer Philippe Ruelle to go to different places in China in order to prepare the catalogue of the exhibition 'China heaven and earth' which was to be shown Brussels in 1988. Philippe Ruelle appreciated the job done by Kurt whose name was mentioned in the catalogue of this great exhibition in Belgium. This was a real contribution of Kurt to make the Chinese culture better known in Europe.
Later on I met him several times in Belgium suggesting some possible jobs in China. He had to find a living but his passion was to make Chinese culture better known. If people went to him in relation with antiquities it was because his reputation as an expert was solid.
He could still do a lot in the field of better knowledge of each other between China and Europe and this should be put in perspective by the competent authorities when analyzing the negative impact of the actual situation of Kurt.
